Introducing my guinea pigs.

12:25

Finally, I have made a decision to introduce to you all, my five lovely guinea pigs. Last time I tried to introduce you to the two newest arrivals, it was all a false alarm and they weren't ready for the arrival for at least another week, oops! (That just shows how much of a clumsy weirdo I really am...).

The eldest one of the bunch at the moment, is the mummy Cat, seen as Alfie sadly passed away a few weeks after the arrival of his two boys, Ernie and Bert. We aren't quite sure what he died of seen as he was given to us and we weren't quite sure how he'd been brought up, or if he already had some kind of ailment we were unaware of.

Before Alfie died, I took some really good quality family portraits of the four of them (both parents and babies) and they looked like the coolest little family ever, they looked like the Saccone Joly's Guinea Pig edition, but sadly, due to my clumsiness I rubbed them off my camera before I had passed them to my PC. You should always check and be sure guys, before you make a silly decision to regret!

Anyway, enough of the talking (typing) lets show you these cute little fellas!

These above, are the newcomers to the household, and they are the tiniest, cutest things ever (aren't all baby guinea pigs?). They were born at eight-ish in the morning last Wednesday, and it couldn't of given me a happier start to the day. They haven't got any names yet, but we are quite sure that the white one is a girl and the little black fellow on the right is a boy, although you can supposedly not tell for exact until they are at least 21 days old.

These two are the teenagers, Ernie and Bert. Ernie is just like his little sis, and Bert is just like his dad. Ernie is the friendliest of the bunch, and Bert is by far the shiest, it is so difficult to get a good photo of him!

And finally we've got the mummy, she is the cutest ever with her big floppy ears. She is very black,  but when the sun is shinning on her she has lots of brown bits and a brown chin (so cuuuuute), and she is always up for a cuddle and squeeze.

Don't forget to leave a comment giving me some name ideas, I really need the help! xx

False alarm and eagle alert!

20:02

So yes, it turns out that my mummy guinea pig wasn't in labor, it was just me getting excited and anxious for the babies to arrive. She is still heavily pregnant though and a bit moody so she must of just been feeling it that day especially.
Well that's all the news for today, and seen as that is all I had to blog about, I thought that sticking to the animal theme I would tell you about yesterdays event. The peacock alert. Here goes.
Yesterday morning I got back from walking my dogs, just to find a peacock sat on the pool banister under the tree. Obviously I couldn't let it go without snapping some pics.

After its first and sadly, most probably last photo shoot I remembered a neighbor from a few houses down used to have a peacock or two, so I went and asked her and she admitted it was hers but as most Spanish are, didn't care for a moment and just said it will either come back or not.
After her frustrating behavior I went home and woke my brother home, fetched some towels and gardening gloves and hoped for him to tackle the peacock hen down, but he didn't. As soon as he arrived at the seen, she did her grand escape, the thing that she had probably been dying to do for months. She set off. But not like a peacock she had the speed of a sparrow behind her and looked like a gigantic eagle or something, I bet more than one teenage fool called the police saying they'd seen an eagle (most probably one of my brothers friends, they've done it before).
I just want to thank this peacock for allowing me to take these beautiful snaps, wish her and her boyfriend (who the neighbor told me also had escaped less than an hour later) the best in there journey, and lastly that they get a foreign new owner so they can get treated correctly.
What "animal" tales have you got to tell me? I'd love to hear all about them!

Some new arrivals to the family.

16:27

Right now, as I am typing, my guinea pig, Cat, is giving birth to her second litter. Yes, I am excited and over the moon, but I am terrified she doesn't survive the labor seen as she is a more petite guinea pig and this time she has put more weight on, and it was only January she gave birth to her first litter of two, Ernie and Bert.
Anyway, we are staying out of her way for a bit and hopefully, like last time, everything will go to plan.
Lets hope for the best! Xx
